Over Forty Millionaires In New York Want To Pay It Forward In Order To Help Struggling New Yorkers With A 1% Tax Increase

I had to read the Guardians headline twice to make sure I read it correctly.  Forty plus millionaires penned an open letter to New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo and several state legislators requesting a 1% Plan for Fairness.

“As New Yorkers who have contributed to and benefited from the economic vibrancy of our state, we have both the ability and the responsibility to pay our fair share,” the millionaires said in an open letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo and state lawmakers.

Saying they were “deeply concerned that too many New Yorkers are struggling economically, and the state’s ailing infrastructure is in desperate need of attention”, the millionaires urged “the governor and the legislature” to pass “the1% Plan for New York Tax Fairness”.

The letter was put together with the Fiscal Policy Institute, a left-leaning think tank, and the Responsible Wealth project, a network of hundreds of the wealthiest Americans who support “fair taxes and corporate accountability”.

Among the backers of the plan are Steven Rockefeller, a fourth-generation member of the Rockefeller family; Elspeth Gilmore, who works to get wealthy people under 35 to donate to philanthropic efforts; and Joshua Mailman, son of the inventor and philanthropist Joseph Mailman.

The signees emphasized that funds are needed to address issues such as child poverty, homelessness and crumbling infrastructure.

“It is a shameful fact that child poverty in New York state is at a record level,” they wrote, “exceeding 50% in some of our urban centers. New York State has a record number of homeless families – more than 80,000 people – struggling to survive across the state. And far too many adults in our state do not have the work skills needed for the 21st-century economy.”

The millionaires added: “These human and physical infrastructure investments will pay off in the creation of new jobs, a workforce prepared to fill them and a reduction in the extreme income inequality that currently exists in our state.”

Lewis Cullman, retired chief executive of the At-A-Glance appointment book company, said he supported the plan because philanthropy does not pay for things such as street maintenance, food inspections or public schools.

“Those of us in the top 1% of incomes have a particular responsibility to contribute to the public sector at a higher marginal tax rate than everyone else,” Cullman said in a statement.

40 millionaires ask New York to raise taxes on wealthy in ‘1% plan for fairness’

More than 40 millionaires on Monday asked New York state to raise taxes on the wealthy, under what they called a “1% plan for tax fairness”.

Hillary If You Had Just Used A Laptop Instead Of A Blackberry You Wouldn’t Be In The Mess You’re In RIght Now

When it comes to national security you would think Hillary would have known better.  I know we all love our smart phones but not all of us have access to or have the need to use it to send/read highly classified information.  So when the NSA informed you that “The current state of the art is not too user friendly, has no infrastructure at State, and is very expensive” you continued to use your personal Blackberry and routed information through your personal server located in one of your residences.  All of this drama just because you loved your damn Blackberry and found it easier to check your schedule/messages.  Convenience over national security, interesting.

Clinton chose not to use a laptop or desktop computer that could have provided her access to email in her office, according to the summary.

    Hillary Nope

This little gem below is for all you that immediately said the republicans did it too but they never got into trouble . . . here is the reason why.

Mills also asked about waivers provided during the Bush administration to then-Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice for her staff to use BlackBerrys in their secure offices. But the NSA had phased out such waivers due to security concerns.

The department’s designated NSA liaison, whose name was redacted from the documents, expressed concerns about security vulnerabilities inherent with using BlackBerry devices for secure communications or in secure areas. However, the specific reasons Clinton’s requests were rebuffed are being kept secret by the State Department.

I have nothing else to say.

Request for ultra-secure government smartphone denied to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton

By MICHAEL BIESECKER, Associated Press WASHINGTON (AP) – Newly released emails show a 2009 request to issue a secure government smartphone to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was denied by the National Security Agency.

Why I Just Can’t Ride Or Die On The Hillary Clinton Establishment Train

I have always been and always will be a keep it real kind of girl.  I’ve never been a follower and I’ve never believed in or done something because everyone else is doing it or thinks it is the right thing to do or the only way to go.  That is one on the many reasons that I can’t nor will I ever get on Hillary Clinton’s establishment train. I have never been a fan of the Clinton’s and there is nothing in the world that will EVER change that.  The only person that disgust me more than the Clinton’s is Donald Trump but for entirely different reasons.

    No signs multiple

I have also never so disappointed  in this country in my entire life.  I have literally spent many a day sitting down with my mouth hanging open in utter shock because of what I am reading, seeing or expected to believe.  The republican party with its vast wasteland full of idiots has been taken over by one of the most repulsive human beings that has ever lived and breathed on this planet.  Donald Trump, their new fearless leader has taken over the wastelands and the banjo playing idiots that live in it. To be honest, I never expected anything less from the republicans but I did expect democrats and independents to step up their game and not go for a candidate that is part of the Washington establishment we all turned our backs on in favor of a change we could believe in 2008.

Fellow ( I am registered as an Independent but lean hard left) Democrats have been shoving Hillary down our throats since the day after President Obama started his second term in the White House.  She was ordained the queen of the 2016 election without a single thought about anyone else being a better candidate for the job.  I knew then that the concept of change had been thrown out the window and that we as a party were  screwed.  Wait, make that totally screwed again. Her supporters immediately pushed under the rug all the horrible things (all of them lies) she said about President Obama and the nasty tactics she and her shady ass husband used in an attempt to derail Obama’s campaign.  I haven’t forgotten what low levels they stooped to in order to discredit him and I never will.  I wholeheartedly admit that one of the reasons is because I am black and some of the shit she pulled was beyond borderline racist but I also question her integrity.  I don’t trust her on ANY level and if her supporters were able to get their heads out the queen they very prematurely ordained ass they would see what so many of us see.  Simply put she is not the real deal.

I also hate the fact that so many women get downright vicious when they are accused of supporting her just because she is a woman.  Let’s keep it real ladies,  that is exactly what thousands and thousands of you are doing.  I remember with great clarity the chants during the 2008 campaign.  The Hillary supporters said loudly and a little too proudly that it was time for a female president.  Hillary herself ran on a break the glass ceiling ticket, go back and listen to her speeches, she played the female card then just like she is playing it now. The only difference now is that she gets down right indignant when anyone calls her out on it and immediately labels them as sexist.   So again  let’s keep it real ladies, you and I both heard more about the importance of electing a female back then (and now) than we heard/hear about how wonderful her policies were/are.  It scared me then and it still scares me now.  Why support someone just because of their sex, someone that thousands of you did not even get behind in 2008 but have now flocked to like stink on shit?  Why in the hell or how in the hell did she immediately become the only choice, the only viable candidate that would be able to defeat the republicans? Have any of you ever  considered the fact that if you had been capable of being objective there just might have been a better candidate(s) out there?  You know, one that wasn’t part of the establishment you all claimed to hate.  I truly thought that was what democracy was all about clearly I was sadly mistaken.

Here is my biggest problem with Hillary Clinton,   I cannot get past the laws that she and her husband fought hard to get passed in the 90’s.  I don’t care how her supporters (black or white) try to spin it those laws caused catastrophic problems in poor and predominately black communities.  I know they have admitted that it was a mistake but that does not change what they did nor does it help the lives they had a hand in destroying.  No apology will ever fix that.  As a black female there is no way in hell I will ever trust a Clinton to have to have a black, white or purple person and/or communities back. When a person shows you who they are believe them.  That is a rule I live by.  I have included an article that I have used before on a post which was written by Michelle Alexander which explains in detail why Hillary Clinton does not deserve the black vote and in my honest opinion anyone’s vote.  In addition to being untrustworthy and continuously plagued by scandal (and no the republicans did not create her problems) she has changed her position on so many things to fit which ever audience is in front of her that I now have to take anti-nausea medication just to be able to watch her. Oh and one more thing with regard to the emails . . .stop screaming about republicans that also used personal servers.  It was wrong then and it is still wrong now.  You would think that because she knew it was wrong back then she would not have repeated that part of history.  If this was a republican candidate running that had done the same thing you all would be nailing him or her to their republican cross over it.  She screwed up, get over it.  It’s not like it is the first time so you all should be getting used to it by now.

I get that all politicians lie and that they all make promises that they will never be able to keep. I do believe, however, that there are some out there that have not been part of the establishment for so many years that they can no longer relate to the people they will do anything and say anything to in order to govern them.  There is even one in particular that has been working in Washington for years but somehow has managed not to bow down to the establishment, who hasn’t been bought by Wall Street and  hasn’t been a busy little beaver greasing palms and/or promising positions for their vote.  It is a shame that this person who has done nothing but fight for the middle class, that genuinely cares for the people that he governs and has never been involved in a scandal wasn’t even given a chance.  Instead we are just recycling the same old shit and the only thing that has changed is the decade.  I just can’t get behind this train wreck and I never will.

Why Hillary Clinton Doesn’t Deserve the Black Vote

We should have seen it coming. Back then, Clinton was the standard-bearer for the New Democrats, a group that firmly believed the only way to win back the millions of white voters in the South who had defected to the Republican Party was to adopt the right-wing narrative that black communities ought to be disciplined with harsh punishment rather than coddled with welfare.

I just wish people would open their eyes instead of mindlessly following this woman. We are ready for a female president, but not her. The things is, short of something miraculous happening, that is the one we’ll get unless those Trumplicans (which are democrats & indies too) outnumber her supporters. Get ready for the nastiest thing you’ve ever seen in your life this election year. I’m looking at Belize now, lol!

You go girl!!! I’m like you. You get that gut feeling with Hillary, but you just can’t put your finger on it as to what her plans are. As you know, Hillary was our Secretary of State and during her tenure, the Republicans in Congress grilled her over Benghazi. This was just a smoke screen. What they didn’t ask? What she did as Secretary of State and that’s where it gets interesting. During her tenure, she spent time flying from Trans Pacific Partnership nation to Trans Pacific Partnership nation selling it. One of those stops was in Malaysia. Remember her trip to Malaysia, but Hillary’s job was to negotiate our position in that deal. There are couple of serious political issues involved in this.
One. It does not go far enough in protecting workers rights. fourteen cents an hour in Vietnam. Slave labor in Malaysia.
Two. It gives corporations more power and more money. The Tpp gives corporations foreign and domestic the right to take other corporations and countries to international court over pricing.
One of the claims is that it will beef up American Exports, unfortunately that’s not the way it will work in reality. Remember the Highway Funding Bill, congress slipped in a rider that will give a charter extension to the Export-Import Bank of America. A government entity. The Bank loans money to investors to buy American Products overseas. To date we have on the books from that bank a total of 2.2 trillion dollars of debt for American products purchased overseas with no hope of collecting on this government giveaway. The Congressional Budget Committee has determined that the Ex-Im Bank will lose over 2 billion in the next ten years and that figure will ultimately go higher with a Trans Pacific Partnership. This money would be better served going back into our communities. For Schools, Fixing the Legal system, Fixing the water supply system and infrastructure and help create jobs. With the TPP it will continue to go to the interests of corporations and investors overseas. I think they need to gamble with someone else’s money instead of the taxpayers. The main function of the Import-Export Bank is to make loans to foreign investors that would otherwise be considered a credit risk allowing them to buy American products. Someone is making a lot of money on this sweet deal and it’s not our kids. So in reality, this will beef up American Exports, but just add to a debt that there is no hope of collecting.
Yep, I’m not a big fan of Hillary and although President Obama Twice and has done an OK job and better than most, this TPP really stabs us in the back. Hillary helped sell it and she has not said one way or the other whether she will support it. She’s too uncommital on a number of issues that are important to progressive democrats. She should be called out on this or at least asked how she feels about the Export-Import Bank. Her response would be very revealing.
So next time someone asks you why you don’t like Hillary…YOU GO GIRL!!!

Please tell me you haven’t given up on Sanders!!! There is still a very good chance he will win the nomination!!!

I agree 100% with everything you said….I haven’t trusted Clinton for years and feel strongly that she will say and do anything to get nominated. No matter what she says, she will do as she pleases if she gets elected.

I have been a fan of Sanders for many years. Rachel Maddow has had him on her show many times, and I almost always agreed with his opinion, no matter what the topic. I was one of those wishing he would run, and just about freaked out when he announced!!! He is, in my opinion, the real deal!!!

I was also terribly upset last night! I live in NC, where he lost, but not by as much as predicted. Now I have decided I will do whatever I can to help him get the nomination!

At the very beginning I was for Hillary. Yippee! First woman president for sure. Then on a whim I did a live stream (my very first by the way) of Bernie Sanders speaking at Madison Wisconsin. It’s been probably over 6 months now. My brother was going to this speech by Bernie Sanders and he asked me to live stream it and see if I could see him in the crowd. Yes, I know, that was dumb. BUT I completely forgot about my brother when Bernie started to speak. I swear I’ve never heard any other politician talk like him. His ideas were all wonderful. He was an authentic person. That word, authentic, describes Bernie Sanders to a T. He does NOT BS. He does NOT change opinions half way across the river. He does NOT pander to the rich. After that one speech I was All Bernie All The Time!! I have become spoiled!! I will NOT spend my vote on Hillary Clinton. She’s drunk the wine of the filthy rich and she’s not going back to Boone’s Farm mark my words! Bernie Sanders is the ONLY person I will vote for. Bernie Sanders for President of the United States of America.

I Guess It’s Trump Or Bust, Breitbart Chooses Politics Over Principles

I am not shocked that the kings of internet sleaze chose Trump over an employee because they never had a moral compass.  I will give ultra conservative site one thing, at least they are consistent. Below  Callum Borchera at The Washington Post describes their rapid descent into the bottomless Trump abyss.

Breitbart jumped so deep into the tank for Donald Trump that it couldn’t find its way out last week when one of its own reporters appeared to become the latest victim of his campaign’s arrogance. Then-Breitbart reporter Michelle Fields (who has now resigned) and Washington Post reporter Ben Terris both reported that Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski grabbed Fields’s arm harshly after a news conference, with Fields tweeting pictures of her bruises a couple days later.

This left the popular conservative news site with a choice: Stand with Fields or stand with Trump.

Breitbart shamefully, embarrassingly stood with Trump. Now Fields, editor-at-large Ben Shapiro and spokesman Kurt Bardella have all quit, and Breitbart looks snarky and small.

Jesse Jackson Is Feeling The Bern, North Carolina You Should Be Feeling It Too

North Carolina, I am trying to keep you from making the same mistake South Carolina did.  This man is the real deal.  He is not a blood sucking, establishment worshiping, in bed with Wall Street zombie.  He has truly been fighting for the rights of each and every citizen of the country.  He is consistent, focused and never changes his message according to who is in the audience. Unlike Hillary Clinton,  he cares about humanity not what humanity can do for him.  Voting for her is truly voting against your best interest, please don’t let history repeat itself.

Bernie Sanders must be the next president of the United States of America.  Do yourselves a favor NC and FEEL THE BERN.  Jesse Jackson is one of the greatest civil rights leaders that ever lived and he knows better than anyone how to recognize another great leader.

I am beginning to question HillBilly’s sanity, okay I have always questioned it but this time she has me worried. Well maybe not worried because that would imply that I care about her which is definitely is not the case.  Let’s just say that she might want to think before she tweets.  Wait, who am I kidding I am sure she has people who do that for her.  She needs to fire the idiot who handled this one for her.

Chicago Thugs? Okay Mr. Donald KKK Trump, I Got Your Thug Right Here

I have for the most part been fairly quiet about Trump and his low IQ  supporters.  I also have been fairly nice about his lack of class, lack of policies and his nauseating habit of  endlessly promoting himself.  I am not even going to touch is debating skills since it is rather obvious that he has none.  But when he had the audacity to call the protesters in Chicago “thugs” that was it.

    Game on.

    Trump Chicago rage

One in five of your banjo playing supporters do not believe that slaves should have been emancipated.  Though you never publicly advocated for white supremacy, your supporters have that covered. I noticed, however, that the majority of the protesters you have forcibly removed from your rallies are African Americans or have brown skin, hell one was even sucker punched by one of your Hitler loving supporters.  Below is an example of one of your banjo playing, Hitler loving super fans.

    Trump Hitler

We black and brown people are not thugs but we are tired of you and your supporters shit. We also have every right to protest against you and your hate filled rhetoric and that includes the idiots that support it.  You are a complete embarrassment to this country.  You are a liar, a bully, a con artist and the perfect example of how no amount of  money can buy class.  Every single time I look at your smug, orange tinged face I want to vomit.

For those of you who think I am being rather harsh, please read the article I posted below and then try to tell me that this man and his message is not just like the KKK’s tired ass message that has not really changed much in over one hundred years.  It didn’t get rid of us then and you best believe we damn sure are not going anywhere now.

We will stay here by any means necessary.  Bet on it.

Thanks to The Atlantic and Kelly J. Baker for providing us with a very accurate trip down KKK memory lane.  The more things change the more they stay the same . . .

    Make America White Again?
